CrowdInbox

Terms of use for CrowdInbox and CrowdInbox Plus

As of 1 October 2026. This is a translation of the German version (nutzungsbedingungen.md), which is the one that counts.

1. Who we are, and what this covers

ServerCrowd GmbH Riehestraße 34a, 31535 Neustadt am Rübenberge, Germany Amtsgericht Hannover, HRB 224128 · Managing director: Moritz Witte Email: kontakt@servercrowd.de · Telephone: +49 172 5825268

We (“ServerCrowd” below) offer the mail app CrowdInbox and, for payment, CrowdInbox Plus. These terms apply when you use either.

2. The app

CrowdInbox costs nothing, on iPhone, Windows, macOS and Linux, and needs no account with us.

The app connects straight to your mail provider. Your mail is kept there and on your device. We do not run a mailbox for you and do not see your mail, with the exceptions you switch on yourself, which our privacy policy describes.

Your mailbox is your mail provider’s responsibility: that it can be reached, and what it allows other mail programs to do.

We keep developing the app. There is no claim to the free app being offered in a particular version or for good.

3. CrowdInbox Plus

Plus adds to the app:

  • Instant notifications on the iPhone. Our relay watches your mailbox and wakes the iPhone when mail arrives.
  • Sending later without the app. The relay holds a scheduled message and sends it at its time through your own mail server, even with every device of yours off. This works for mailboxes that sign in with a password or an app password; mailboxes that sign in through Microsoft or Google keep sending from your device.
  • Summaries and suggested replies on the iPhone, where Apple Intelligence is available. They are made on the iPhone.

Everything else in the app works without Plus.

The relay runs on machines in Germany. We run it with the care that can be expected; we do not promise that it can be reached without any interruption. When it is down, mail arrives as soon as you open the app, and scheduled mail goes out as soon as one of your devices is running.

Plus is for one person and their devices.

4. Purchase and price

On the website Plus costs €19.99 a year, VAT included. The seller there is not ServerCrowd but Paddle.com Market Limited, 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom, as reseller (“merchant of record”). You conclude the contract of sale with Paddle, under Paddle’s buyer terms; Paddle issues the invoice and collects the amount. Plus itself is provided by us, under these terms.

Plus from the website renews for a year at a time until you cancel.

On the iPhone Apple sells Plus through the App Store, under Apple’s terms and at the prices the app shows there. It renews as the App Store says at the purchase.

If the price changes, you are told before the next renewal, in good time to cancel first.

5. The account

An account is optional and there for exactly one thing: Plus you bought on one device holds on your others. It consists of your email address and a code we send to it; there is no password.

Plus from the website belongs to the address you give at the purchase. Whoever can read that address’s mail can sign in with it. So use an address you will keep and that only you read.

Up to ten devices can be signed in to one account at the same time. When an eleventh signs in, the device that has not been heard from for longest is signed out.

You can sign out at any time and delete the account in the app at any time. A purchase on the website is a contract with Paddle and goes on until you cancel it.

6. Term, cancellation, withdrawal

Plus from the website can be cancelled at any time for the end of the paid year: on our page Cancel a contract here, through the link in Paddle’s receipt, or with an email to us.

Plus from the iPhone is cancelled in your Apple Account’s subscriptions.

The right to extraordinary cancellation remains unaffected.

How to withdraw from a purchase, and when you get money back, is on the page Refunds and withdrawal.

If we discontinue Plus, we announce it at least a month ahead, and you get your money back pro rata for the paid time that is then left.

7. Liability

(1) ServerCrowd is liable to you in all cases of contractual and non-contractual liability, in the event of intent and gross negligence, for damages or reimbursement of wasted expenditure in accordance with the statutory provisions.

(2) In other cases ServerCrowd is liable, unless paragraph 3 provides otherwise, only for the breach of a contractual obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely (a so-called cardinal obligation), limited to compensation for the foreseeable and typical damage. In all other cases our liability is excluded, subject to paragraph 3.

(3) Liability for damage from injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected by the above limitations and exclusions of liability.

8. Consumer dispute resolution

We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

9. Final provisions

(1) Should individual provisions of these terms of use be or become invalid or void, the validity of the terms of use as a whole is not affected. The invalid or void provision is rather to be replaced, by free interpretation, with a provision that comes closest to the purpose of the contract or the will of the parties.

(2) The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies.

(3) If you are a merchant (Kaufmann), the place of jurisdiction is agreed to be ServerCrowd’s registered office. Otherwise the statutory provisions apply.

10. Changes

When what CrowdInbox or Plus do changes, we change these terms and the date above. A change that makes Plus worse for you applies to you only from the next renewal, and you are told beforehand.
